i like this car alot. seems like we see alot of the same things on peoples cars. nice to see something different. quick question though. since your doing away with all your chrome... are the fuchs getting painted similarly? i think that would really set this car off.

Thanks for the props Slammed and Shiney considereing my car is more of a Slammed and Dull kind of deal. I've been thinking I might have to detail the Fuchs. The polish on them isn't perfect and I might need to hide some imperfections. Maybe not black though. Chestnut brown or Texas brown? :-k

A little update. Been plodding along on the POS. Sparyed another coat of paint with a little less flatener. Came out ok. plus I was tired of painting and was ready to start putting things back together. Here's lots of pics. Maybe too many....

Here's some more.

Fabbed up a 4" beam to replace the 2" that was in there. B/J shocks with heim joints to try and not have so much angle/stress on the shocks. Took some calculating to figure out how long to make the shock towers.

So the kids all headed off to a birthday party Sunday so I thought I'd take a break and have a little "safety meeting". Hit the garage door button and just before the the door closes.... crunch, scrape, fuuuuuck. I just closed the garage door on my rear fenders that were on the floor. Drivers side came out unscathed. Passenger not so lucky. Small dent now covered by this convenient emblem.

Got the beast back on it's feet again. Pans all bolted up. Wheels need a polish. It's a little too low. The front tires rub on the headlight buckets. The back looks cool though. Low without the camber. Just what I was trying to achieve. Have to figure out the wiring and brakes then try and reserect an old 1835 I built close to 20 years ago. Windows need installed too. All in all I'm pretty happy with how it is turning out considering i've done 99% of the work on this rig by myself.

Thanks for the props guys. You know I post pretty much the same messages on my local forum. Never a response. Funny, EH...

Franz, tires are all continentals. I wanted them all to match. Conti pro`s I think. 205-60-16 rears. 175-55-15 fronts. The rear tire diameter is the same as a 205-65-15. Was just triyng to have more rim and less tire in the wheel well.

I was thinking the other day when I was sitting in the car shifting and pretending to drive it like I stole it, that this is the first time I have sat in this beetle or any other beetle in probably 15+ years.
