Thank you John and Gretchen for letting us join in on this awesome trip! We pulled up in line to pay to get into the Sand Flats area behind the Ottinger family. The ranger told us that the fee was waved because "Lin Ottinger is a legend in this area!" That's the kind of treatment we received on the complete trip. Great memories on this trip just like every KCW trip I've been lucky enough to attend. More VWs next year and a bigger bonfire too. (if that's possible). Good Times!!

Its Monday morning. The Moab car show and caravan has come and gone. It was a good weekend. The weather had been on/off all week prior. As luck would have it, we drove through the last of the storms Friday night. Keeping our VW's nice and cool.

Image

The caravan started off with a drive-by of the VW dealership on the way out of town. We saw Weston there, hes a certified VW tech now. Congrats!
A clogged up 24rd intersection and round-abouts ensued. Not good for strait axle, fully loaded, 2 liter busses pulling dune buggies. We finally got to cruising speed on I-70 at about 6pm.

Image

Peet's and Keeg's chevy junk. 62 and 64. Stopped at the Loma exit because Ron was overheating. ](*,) I put new brakes on his buggy earlier this week. They were dragging a little. His timing was also 10 degrees retarded from spec. We reset the timing, and backed the brakes off. He was fine from there on out.

Pat K had engine troubles. He decided to trailer his car back. I'm gutted for Pat. Worst of luck.

Happy camper Jesse

Ronaldo back on the road and happy to have rain cool his rig.

We're suckers for orange and blue in Colorado. Badass seamed gate 59 double cab. All narrowed with the trick stuff.

I had to leave early and missed out on Saturday and Sundays events. Bummed about that. I'm already looking forward to the 2017 Moab caravan, and hope to make a better weekend of it.
