5/66 Double cab

Postby Glenn A » Sat Oct 22, 2016 5:24 pm

I picked up this local double cab. It had typical north east rust but it was super OG. Old guy had planned on a father son project, but his son died of cancer. After sitting on it for a while he decided it was to much work. The old guy they got it from had it stored away in upstate NY since 1976. So its a low miles super nice interior bus with some rust.

I had planned on going though the brakes and freshening up the barley running 1200 that it came with and make it a driver. Sitting on new tires brakes and lines all new. I pulled the gas tank to have it cleaned out (full tank from 1976) and found the area under the gas tank was to fucked to put the tank back it so some metal work is in order. So I'm going use this bus as a practice run for my 60 dc.

Yea. The SC got sold. Put it up and got my asking price so that's how that goes. It lives in CT now and it will be powered by Subbie. I really didn't want to sell the SC, but it was just taking up valuable shop space. The current shop situation is much better.

The T/A belonged to the guy I bought the DC from. He had a bunch of nice cars. That one had rediculously low miles. It look like new. There is a bay DC behind it in that pic.

Hate you sold the SC but that's cool since you replaced it with a DC!

Nah. I'm happy to be spending time in the shop. Between work, kids baseball and softball I got my hands full.

Kids played 6 games between them today. Lol. I was still able to spot weld the B pilar together. Most importantly I was stil able to have a couple beers. I'm tiered.

Wheels and tires look great! DC's are a dream of mine.

Got the outer B pilar burned in tonight. I think I need to weld the inner rocker and the front outrigger in place to get the bottom of this pilar welded in solid.
