Subaru baja bug

Postby andym » Sun Aug 07, 2016 6:49 pm

I just bought this sweet ass 69 baja bug up, motor hasn't even cooled down. Typical baja, not too nice to fuck up. Hacked radio, mix match seats. You know, it's a baja!

Anyways, it's a running, driving, stopping, registered street car. Has a badass detailed ford blue engine case along with whatever else was around the case is blue too. But runs fucking awesome!

Plans, just a quick Subi swap. 2.5 Subi off the ass end. Radiator mounted roof rack or above the engine area. That's not decided yet. Otherwise the usually.

Goal, be done this month. I figure it will take 2 months if I end up going to the big leagues. :-k So why not squeeze in a quickie! Which seems easy, no long radiator lines, no custom intake. Just bolt the shit on and go.

I want to replace the tires, I like all 4 the same size on a baja.

Once it's done, for sale. I don't have any plans on keeping this car. Just a quick swap and sell.

Sounds like a fun project. I can see you having a suby powered Baja and just tearing it up off road.

Adjust the rear up and give the beam a cut and turn while you're there. Lifted up with 4 matching big tires would look pretty sick!

Ah it's just gonna be a quickie.

Zach yeah I might do something like that. The lifted red bug that is posted on here looks pretty sweet.

Ben, I'm not sure what your asking? No rear mount. Just 4 bolts and let it hang. The bay is the only one I made a mount for because bays don't have transmission horns.

Kevin i took it for a joy ride around the country roads tonight, it's pretty dam fun for sure. Either the transmission has good gearing or the big tires help. 4th gear it flys.

Going to lay out the parts and get a plan of attack for this. Thinking next weekend I'll rail on it. Weekend swap.

anyone have stock thing spindles?

Found some tires that fit the rims and don't break the bank. My homie Aran with the subicab has an extra radiator I'm gonna steal. I already have a motor, adapter plate, microsquirt. Need to order the diesel starter block conversion piece.

I'm going to wait to swap it, let's see if I can do it in a weekend if all the pieces are in my possession. I did go baja driving tonight after work. I'm thinking of cutting the fenders some to give it an more aggressive look. The new tires will help determine that.

2.5 Subi baja coming up!!
