Class 11 style 70 Bug

Postby sixfootdan » Sat Sep 05, 2015 5:27 pm

I built a class 11 STYLE Bug once before and I regret selling it. I've been hunting around for another candidate and I found this 1970 here on the samba. I plan on driving it daily so it will be a 99% on road Bug. This one is very clean so keep your "Too clean" or "that's not allowed in class 11" comments to yourself. If you dig it then join in on the journey. I will start with raised spindles and re index the rear. 235's all the way around 8)

Little damage on the rear fender.

Looks like gas was spilled and ate the paint on the apron.

Pretty darn clean.

Dragging her home.

Decided to cut and turn the beam instead, Jacked up the front end to get the beam out. I'm impressed how the trunk area is really clean and unmolested.

Nice excited to see what this looks like. I have been thinking of doing something similar with my car.

I lived in Co. Springs for about 14 years and back in the early 90's there was a guy that had a neon yellow full fendered lifted Bug. It had a 3" body lift and centerlines and blue suspension under it. I loved that car and it came up for sale but I was a broke 20yr old. So fast forward 20 years I finally built one and sold it to get a Scout which I regreted doing. So here I am building #2. I don't think I will do a body lift on this one though.

Are you going to wear that righteous bucket on your head when you are out driving it? Clean Bug!! I am liking the lifted standard style Bugs.

I'd like to see how this turns out.

After driving around in my lowered 62 in Tucson all weekend (lots of potholes), this doesn't even sound like a bad idea anymore!

Painted the wheels and rack and took it out on a shake down run. Everything checked out good other than hooking up the stereo and the rear relaxed a little. I re adjusted it and now will take over as my commuter. It's about 70 miles round trip.

Hot damn ! Lookin' GOOD ! =D>
911 operator: What is your emergency ? Me: Some asshole just pulled out in front of me & totaled my car! 911: Are you injured? Me: No. 911: Is the other driver injured ? Me: Not yet....but you should probably send an ambulance.
