Let me start the getting home story.

We easily push this awesome bus off his trailer. It rolled so good. He had to cut a tree out of the bumper when he got it but it wasn't locked and rolls like a dream. Its full of junk and smells of cat Tee-Tee but the floors look great from underneath.
way easier than mine in everyway.

We jack nifed his truck and trailer and he called his buddy that had a Nissan extra.
No winch and a non rolling bus thats missing one springplate.
we had to get creative

With a lot of pushing and realigning we pulled the non rolling sliding bus.
Sketchy stuff. [-(

No steering wheel either so we had to move the vise grips or just man handle the wheels to "steer" it like a rudder.
What a mess.

We got it on the trailer. \:D/

Getting it off was another hurdle. ](*,) #-o

I need a spring plate!

Does anyone have one they don't need or can part with?

Getting her home.
I left the Passat to its new Fate and we trailered the bus home with his truck. It was about an hour drive. No tags on the trailer so it made me a little nervous.

I also didn't know how my landlord was going to feel about it. He saw that I got rid of the 2 bugs and asked me why. I just told him that there was something else I wanted. I truly didn't want to talk about the trade much. Most of my crazy trades fall through.
I didn't want to jinx it.

When we get there My landloard is the first guy we see. =P~
He was cool with it. He is a car guy. He has a few projects, mostly old Chevy's. His Three bay is behind my house ](*,)
I am hoping he will let me pull it into a bay to weld some when I am ready.
we picked out a spot below the 3 bay that had a tree nearby. :-k

we strapped and chained the bus to the tree and drove the truck and trailer away.
That's how we got it off. It actually worked very well. \:D/

The dash is BAD. It has screws and remnants of shag carpet that I guess used to ooozzzz funky coolness but held moisture and made it rust. Missing steering wheel, e brake, shifter, speedo (I think I got one \:D/ ), fuse panel, a door handel, seats, switches, strikers

prop works but the roof is so bad in the gutter its flexing and moving a lot when you open it. ](*,)

Looks like an early 1961, built in 1960. Light Grey. Cool bus. Do it up right!

Post a pic of the m code plate on the passenger side of the bulkhead if it still has it.

Unfortunately I wont have the funds, parts or skill to do it "right"
But I do have access to some scrap steel. \:D/ So there wont be any lawnmower blade metal on this one.

Unless I just want to be Nostalgic. :-k

I know a double door is a bus that people want but I sure do miss my 65 standard. :-({|=

15 12 0= Built on the 15th day of December, 1960. Just as I suspected, a early 61.

360= Doors on both sides.

UA= Shipped to Los Angeles

Can't remember what 215 is off the top of my head, Grey is obviously Light Grey, and the VIN.

The day after trading my car for the bus.....

The Datsun 620 truck was at a garage getting some things done and it was still not ready. ](*,)

The day before my Old Honda street bike died on me again. #-o

So I rode my 80's road bike to work.

I got this bad boy the year I lived in Fort Collins CO.
I paid $1.98. it was in with a bunch of huffys and cheap bikes.
Centurion is like an early Diamond Back

The New Local VW guy in town was trying to talk me out of this bus big time. :-s
saying its too rough. :-k
Lets just call him "GURU"
I tried to tell him this is the only way I will get a bus.

I explained to Guru that this was the only way for me to get a bus and I did not want to sink a bunch of money in the Passat for repairs.

I helped Guru movce some stuff like a day later and either getting the bus, unloading the bus or helping him I got into some Chiggers.
[-X :-({|= :-& =;
The lit me up on my legs and even where the sun doesn't shine.
That made ridding the bicycle to work bad.

I finally get the Datsun back for my daily. It runs good but it has a terrible hesitation. :-k
It got a new exhaust but it still seems loud at the front/engine
rebuilt carb and new accelerator pump.
thoughts?

slower and slower...
slows when I dip the clutch to shift....
barley made it back to work from lunch one day.

Brakes locked on. 4 wheels smoking. wouldn't roll for a hour or 2 till it cooled.

When it cooled I took it back to the garage. ](*,)

Then I fixed the Honda Street bike.
It keeps blowing inline fuse holders, not the fuse.

WE rode the bike to school when we had too. 2 full weeks. Now it is On and off because the Truck has come and gone back again. ](*,) Lets hope it breaks the record of three days use [-o<
Its a easy quick ride to School. no stoplights and low speed.
I don't let her ride all over town.
she holds on good to my belt, a good passenger.

She loves to ride the Motorcycle .

Does anyone have a extra bus Spring plate??????

I want to start to work on this thing. I want to tackle the frame rust first. I need to be able to move it.
I really need a spring plate. [-o<

What about early bay spring plates?
I may know of an early bay in a junkyard. I think it is an Auto.
if the splines are right can it be a core for a offset spring plate? :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k
