my single cab with type 3 suspension

Postby 63single » Thu Nov 27, 2014 11:33 am

Hey guys, My name is Aran and Andy is a good friend of mine. He and I are always bouncing "Bad ideas" off of each other. So here is my biggest "Bad idea".
63 single cab that I bought back in 94. Type 3 IRS and a type 3 beam.
i installed the suspension about 5 years ago and have been kind of quiet about it because I wasnt too sure about it too be honest. after 5 years of daily driving and NO problems maybe its time to start talking about it. unfortunately i didnt take any pics when i built it. so we will have to work on that. the ride is awesome. it rides like a stock type 3.

One of the only pics of my beam install is the tie rod clearance at the frame.

When I did the installation I figured that I would have to pull it back out to do some finishing touches, but the truck went right back to daily driver status. I need to get another vw to drive so I can tear it back down and clean it all up. I musta got lucky! I will get more pics for those that are interrested for sure. the thing i like about the beam is that it sits stock height and it is almost 4" narrower, instant disc brakes and fully adjustable. I have 3/4" worth of spacers on the front wheels and they are still inboard quite a ways.

Type3 beam in a bus?? Your not safe!! Aran bring it to my shop and we can pull it over the pit for pictures. And check out the placement of the radiator!!

Arans single is pretty sweet, rides awesome, looks great, and 99% of the time it's do'n work..he uses it like a new truck.

Show them a picture or 2 from of your cool guy parcel trays that you make.

Aran text me the same pictures, shit uploads weird on his phone. When he clicks on anything on these forums it shows the last post first, he has to read this shit all backwards.
For me it's last page last post is the newest. For him it's first page, first post is newest so he has to scroll down to see the older post. Weird!
Anyways, here are the same pictures but smaller so you can see the full picture.

Just wondering, why use the T3 in the bus?
What is the advantage of it?
