Yeah I painted it. I couldn't get all the bright blue paint off of it from years ago, so I hit it with some Duplicolor Cast Coat Iron, which I think looks pretty good.

Matt, hunt down an original fan shroud before you install that engine. The aftermarket fan shrouds don't blow heater air very well.

Thanks guys! This one is kinda a normal 1914 build. I'd like to build a mileage motor next, and this one is meant to be a practice round of sorts. I've never built a VW motor before, so I've learned A LOT with this one.

Good tip on the shroud Franz. The original ones look so less-clean though...lol. Maybe I'll see how bad it is. I've got an original I can switch to though.

Yes. Match them to the port. And put a thin film of grease on them to help them seal and prevent them from sticking.
