Rusty's Buses

Postby rustabus » Mon Jan 13, 2014 7:54 am

Image

I wanted to start a thread so that everybody could tease me regarding my excessive project stash and my efforts to "Build em All" I'll be pretty much posting about slow progress with no photos!! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) Smile

Spent this weekend filling and grinding holes in the Panel, I thought I had about 50 to fill but when I started but as I dug in I noticed more, and more and more!! ](*,) Goddam Hippies screwed/bolted and drilled EVERYTHING in for their homemade camper setup and multiple roof racks!!!!? I am now finished with north of 150 holes filled with just a few more big holes on the roof and then onto the cargo doors that sport about 40 each, just on the inside ](*,) How many sets of door panels can a Brotha install??? Smile

Not for door panels. They used screws to install the shag carpet. ](*,) Seriously! I've seen busses with screws installed every square foot on the inside to hold that shit in.

Add some liquid nails and you have a bullet proof interior.

Thanks Bubba, I agree! So I was just thinking..........what if I had to update my thread every day like we expect the guys at the shop to do??? I guess I would have to say that yesterday I didn't work on my Buses at all I went to work for a few hours, grocery and bank after work then made split pea soup til 8 then watched TV til 11. Embarrassing! 8-[ That is some really boring domestic shit! ](*,) Hopefully today I can be a man and drink beer and weld after work!! =D> =D>

You can add this to your list of what you did yesterday:

Finished welding the big ass holes in the roof and knocked out the rear inner hatch! pretty sure I am all clear on filling and finishing every non stock hole in the roof, inner hatch and inner frame everywhere inside the Bus as well as the bulkhead!! \:D/ Now onto the many holes in the floor due to endless shag carpet installs :-k . After that, I'll kill myself on the cargo doors! ](*,)

Got off work later than I thought but still put in some! Vacuumed up the inside again and welded up the cargo floor, not as bad as I thought! 30 ish holes later and it's done! No finish grinding cuz I don't want my neighbors to hate me! Welded up one inner cargo door too, hoping to hit the other cargo door and grind down all the leftover welds by Friday =D> =D> =D>

Not sure why every door and hatch was double locked with gate latches on the outside but that shit is gonna disappear this weekend! \:D/

Yeah every car that I've seen come out of there was 100% complete. :^o

I wonder what ever happened to that 58 ghia steering wheel and taillights? Tom must have a storage unit full of all of the "good" parts that he robbed off of cars before selling them.

Speaking of ol' Ghias, I heard a rumor that there might be another headed to KCW . Maybe by this weekend. Any truth there ?
911 operator: What is your emergency ? Me: Some asshole just pulled out in front of me & totaled my car! 911: Are you injured? Me: No. 911: Is the other driver injured ? Me: Not yet....but you should probably send an ambulance.
