Just looked those tires up. 31" diameter in the rear? Wow, that'll play with the gearing! Smile

I don't think it will be a problem with the 2.2 subi motor she's just going to have long legs.

Ya, my bus would do 75mph in third gear easy at 32-3300rpm with my 30" tires. Fourth loped along at 2000rpms@75mph. I've since come down to 27" tires, it's right on 75mph@3200rpm. It was like having a really tall overdrive with the taller tires.
Let me draw you a fucking picture!

Considering the weight ratio to hp this should be interesting. Nice thing about a VW trans is the ability to manipulate the gearing. Wink for now it's looking like a salt flat racer.

Are you going to put roll up windows in it? If so, how are you intending on making them work at the top?

Damn George ! I was looking at that a while back thinking if it could be negotiated down a bit it would be a reasonable project. I believe that this should go in the "George scores" coulumn. \:D/
911 operator: What is your emergency ? Me: Some asshole just pulled out in front of me & totaled my car! 911: Are you injured? Me: No. 911: Is the other driver injured ? Me: Not yet....but you should probably send an ambulance.

Nice, George! Now it needs a roof rack with a permanent rod tube. I had a black 71 Baja for a while. It was a great jump out vehicle. I kept a rod with me all the time, pull over , jump out and fish! Those were some fun times.
