'66 Squareback--- Subaru 2.5 powered!

Postby andym » Wed Feb 06, 2008 10:54 pm

Alright, Most people on here know me...
Its a '66 Squareback, I build a 2054cc motor for it and I love that motor.. It has a super street tranny. 4 wheel disk brakes... 5 Inch KCW King/link Narrowed Conversion beam.. 205/70/15 rear tires..
I'm in the process of painting it back to the original color, L 650 Granada red.

Here is my squareback and its timeline..

When I got it and I just lowered the front:

Drove it late last night... Here it is today....

The 5 inch Narrowed beam is perfect, rides good, turns good, and got the wheels tucked in. The motor runs really good too..

Here is the update for this car. I want to get it painted super nice, but that cost big bucks and for a car that I'm going to drive the shit out of, I opted for a cheaper paint job. Plus this way I can see if I really want to have it painted the OG color. L650.

I just made a make shift paint booth in my garage, shot the color, and wet sanded the shit out of it.

Alright, Long time no update... Well here is my goal for myself and this car... This past year I took my '58 Ragtop to all the shows... So its now in retirement.. I'm going to get my squareback back on the road as my new road warrior. Goal are to go drive it to as many shows as I can. Vegas is included. I got tired of the "fake it" paint.. so I stripped it all down to bare metal, worked it, primed it, painted it. I did all this about a month ago. Right now I'm putting the headliner in and putting it back together. I use a base/clear for my paint. Shot it out of a Sata with a 1.2 tip.

Nice car Andy. Original color is never a bad idea. I think mine is Bahama Blue but I am not for sure. Is the code for the color on the vin plate???

I've been playing with the squareback lately.. When its raining here my "real" job isn't working.. wood construction..

So This is the turbo kit from "squarebackjoe"

It not the whole kit on the motor... I just wanted to see if it would clear the stock oil dip stick..Nope.. So I either need to make it go around it or just eliminate it and use a type 1 style---but it would make it a bitch trying to check the oil... I think I might just extend the stock type 3 tube. If you have ever delt with a type 3 motor you understand what tube I'm talking about.

I'm going to change over to MSD. And I think I'm going to run a full exhaust on it, not just that shorty tube.

These are some pictures from a few months ago of the body/paint I did myself.

I gotta call up ISP West and order my last few seals.. As it sits right now I just need my window rubber and some misc seals.

Look who it is... Joe Dogg.. You were holding out on pictures and the full exhaust idea...

Joe- Are you interested in selling rest of the motor that the turbo kit was originally on?? I know it needs rebuilt or some shit right? I just sold my single cab.. Less projects=more funds for current projects.. Let me know cracker!
