Im curious to see what Franz has in store in regards to those rims. Leave them all chromed or are you gonna do up the centers a different color similar to Kelly's barndoor? Matte centers and polished lip?

No, I decided to wait on the beam project. I spent most of today digging ditch on the farm.

I did manage to find time to mask and paint detail the front wheels.

Tomorrow I think I'll work on the body.

I love those wheels when they are detailed. This will look sweet.

I looked up the numbers, it appears to be a matching August 63...the very first of 64 model year. Which also explains why it has a 63 style license plate light.

Crunched apron. I can fix.

Dig the Firestone tire...that thing looks pretty narrow yet tall. When you said nasty low I figured you were going with something low-profile.

The narrowest beam.

To mount the body and pan together for pulling and straitening of the bent clip. Its coming out nicely.

22 7/8" overall on the 125 firestone's...If you're buying new tires and want something local, go to walmart and get the 145/65 or 155/60 continetials.

Here they are on the walmart store They usually have them in stock.

I finished detailing the rear wheels and got some matching rear 205/70 tires mounted. Shooting to get this on the ground this weekend.

I'm going to hack this original beam up today.

I found out that I had a bent beam. #-o

Luckily, KCW had a core in the pile I was able to substitute.

I cut right behind the shock towers to get a 4" narrowed beam. I decided on a single adjuster (the bottom adjuster on a low car gets damaged). I pre-set the lower tube for slammed, I know from previous experience that center grub screw should be about strait.
Image

Cutting the lower tube off made clean and prep much easier. I also flipped the lower tube so that the grease zerks would point up instead of down.

The torsion arm bushings are press-fit. I knock the inner bushing in 2" to match the beam narrowing. You can see the mark on my tool.
Image

I cut up my bent beam to get a second set of press-fit inner phenolic bushings to use as outters. (this beam had needle bearing and a machined surface that was cut off in narrowing)
