Any idea what a set of these will run me $$$$ when you have them made? I love this idea of height without looking stupid out back.

It's atleast 4 different set ups per box/side. Left and right side boxes different for bolting on the spring plate?
Unless you have homies in higher places, from my machine shop experience I'd estimate $4,000 range, that's less than 40 hours to build them both.

This is going to be a manual time consuming one at a time deal huh... :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k Thats billet.. must be why they are cast huh, cost..... I wonder if I'd sell enough if I could cut cost by doing like 10 sets?? :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k damn.. That's like $40K... I have other plans for my next $40K at the moment.. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

I'll get a few quotes, so we'll have a solid idea of cost vs quantity soon. Andy's figure isn't outrageous at all - it could cost more. Cost is more than likely why this has never been done before, and that has been my biggest fear since the beginning. I didn't mention it on purpose from the get-go to avoid the whole thing getting shot down then, but now look how far we've come. :)

Also, I've tried to dot I's and cross T's as much as possible, but there is a chance that the first set will get scrapped for some reason - design or manufacture related. If it were my money, I'd only make 1 set first, and then hit the GO button on the machine again when I know everything is cool.
That's just part of the fun with this stuff.

I don't mean to scare you. It more than likely will be awesome, but still pricey.

Casting... Casting feels like a pain in the butt when you're used to working with billet-made parts. It can be cheaper though, especially in the long run, especially in China, especially if you make 5000 sets. None of those factors seem to fit the scope of this project to me.

Solid plan of running just one set to test out of billet. Two ideas in regards to help mitigating costs:

- It's none of my business in regards to the status of the relationship with Don at Anvil Bikeworks, but there's a VW guy who's tooled up to run a set of these and may have an interest in a set for himself as a potential carrot to help run some.

- Gerson posted on IG a while back that he was casting parts to make complete torsion housings; see link below. Maybe reach out to him feel out the possibility of casting and expense involved?

How about using Jake at The Flying Dutchman Co and cast these parts? He always seems to be making castings for his projects. sounds like this would be right down his alley. #flyingdutchmanfoundry
