Hey Erik, I was working on the regulator ...trying to get the light to stay out. I thought it was the adjustment on the closing solenoid of the old Mercedes Bosch regulator. After several adjustments, and intermittent operation. I swapped the regulator to a new transistor unit to test.

New regulator, same symptom. Light is on until about 2500rpm. I think the issue is a weak generator. Full field test confirms.

Maybe we should change it out before it leaves? At least, get a spare located, so that you have the replacement ready to go.

The generator is small diameter 12volt (6 volt diameter) that would have originally came on a 66-67 Porsche 912

I replaced some hub cap clips and painted the original 2/59 wheel yesterday. Going to get a spare tire mounted too.

Franz,
If you are able to switch the generator before the car is picked up that would be the best for me. Will save me from pulling the engine as the first thing I do! If not - I do have a spare myself. A lot of the Vw and Porsche industrial engines with these small diameter 12V generators in Norway. We have 4-5 of them in our small workshop in Bergen.

Very nice wheel!

No need to pull the engine. The design of the generator stand allows it to be pulled out of the front. Should be an easy job.

The truck driver just called and said he would be here 6pm. ](*,)

The soonest that I could have the part would be tomorrow. Truck is scheduled to be here tonight. And they were very expensive. $550

It works well enough for shipping.

I wish I would have driven it more before you were here ](*,)
