Take it to one of the big shows in Europe, do a driving tour of Europe with it, and likely find a buyer on that road trip.

^Yeah that idea is going to cost $10k pretty quick.

If you do auction I say it needs dressed up to be more appealing to the type of guy who would want to take it to the beach or roadtrip or something.

-so42 roof rack
-simple bed like the pamper
-flip up table like the pamper.
-maybe wipe the logos off.
-1914cc engine? Let the new owner do that.

That is a recipe of an awesome road trip camper bus. It would look nice & simple with the logos removed and rack added.

You won't have all the fancy windows that get top dollar bid war. But it will look like a good 2nd or 3rd place against $100K+ late model 21 window junk. Shoot for the old guy getting sentimental about partying in an old surf bus or something.

We could do that list for like $10K. Would the bus fetch $70K then? Anyone here want to step up? 1 of 11 swivel seat kombi camper.

At auction...you have to get it there, you or a representative needs to be there, up front fees, would have to be at an auction where a reserve is allowed, if no sale shipping and travel back. Can add $$$$$$ to an already large investment.

I think taking the swivel to Kelly park is a good idea. I would tow it. With a sign in window. Maybe drop the price to like 50,000 cash no bullshittin no 49,999 and hope to sell. I sell a lot of shitt buyers say I am cheap but I wanna sell shitt. Would also be so cool to build into a custom camper :-& I wanna go to Kelly park too

All they potential buyers that are at Kelley park have already see it I'm sure. True players know what's for sale and what's not.

The Canada shit is too personalized. Might as well put "abc plumbing" on the side, cool but only for 1 person.

None the less, it's a sick bus. Seeing in person, it's badass!!! Just wait, it will sell..

Dunno much about selling VWs, as I tend to keep my own crap,
but,
I have sold a thing or two before..

Seems to me that you should hold out for your right price.
Your guy is out there.

Couple of reasons:
It WAS an actual Royal Mail postal bus, right?
Possibly the only one on earth.
Certainly the nicest one..

The typical bus guy in our own circles here is going to know about it.
And, let's face it, very few have any real money.
The rows of bus guys at Kelley Park are looking for the same deals we all are.

Your ideal buyer is going to be someone with some connection or nostalgia for the Canadian post,
or an antique collector/investor who sees value in it's rarity.
(Too bad it wasn't a 'survivor' for this guy, eh?)
You have the documentation for it's status in the signwriting that was uncovered, but,
Ever get a birth certificate?
Documentation of status as genuine could suddenly become very important.
A couple of old slips of paper or pictures could go a long way,
Even any pics of other old Royal Mail busses.

Any ad for this bus would HAVE to have a bunch of old B&W pics of Royal Mail busses(!)

Makes me think you should look in non-VW circles.
Maybe Hemmings Motor News or bringatrailer.com?

Those big BJ auctions are for drunk billionaires to impress their mail-order mistresses.
(Be glad you didn't wake up from a hard night drinking to find out you bought a bondo'ed out 21 with a TMI interior for 280K! #-o )

The guy who plunks down for this bus would be an antique investor/collector type or mail collector/buff.
Those guys are out there, but nowhere near the Samba or BJ.

There's an ass for every seat, make no mistake,
but this one is going to be hard to find.

Once you do find him, he will have to have it.
If you don't get your project done in a "reasonable" amount of time.. You risk having an "dated" rig.. -John Jones

=D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Totally totally agree !! Clatter.
Well put and rational....Provenance is everything to the historic collector...
....but hey !!! I'd like to see someone roll this beautiful bus ,as it should be.
not in some closeted collection in some obscure part of somewhere.

I have used bring a trailer twice and it worked well. Of course it is not free. It was helpful for me both times but not vw related so i cannot input on that.
