Back at the beginning of this thread that badge is mentioned but I don't know who that person is. The thread I started on the samba hasn't produced any new information. I guess the guys that fucked it up don't want to talk about it. Whatever...at least now I know it was delivered in primer and that the safaris and hatch are original. Still would like to know about the gas cap.

Check out Miesen as a coachbuilder. They built early early ambulances.

Just noticed in the second photo there's a plate under the plate. Does anyone have any info on this hidden license plate?

Man I'm getting old! Armed forces plates. That adds to the mystery a little.

The guys that had it before me, (Glen & VW Howard) most likely threw those on there for that show. I doubt they are original to the bus.

That pictures shows fresh metal work. That aligns with the story I got of it being fully disassembled/sandblasted. Sitting at Yost's shop for a lengthy time awaiting restoration.

The bus was pulled out of the shop, and quickly assembled to make usable for a show. Which is about the time of that picture. 2008-ish?

I don't see the plates in any of the photos prior to sandblasting. Maybe you're right and they just wanted them on there for the show. It seems odd they put the rear plate on just to cover it with a later one though. Need a photo prior to the stripes. There has to be some out there.
