You guys have matching busses...pretty much the exact same mechanicals....Same brand and size of tires too. Smile

Speaking of matching busses Franz, maybe you can answer something Wren and i discussed yesterday..

What makes a front pressed Bumper a barndoor bumper? Wren has a barndoor front and we could not distinguish its measurements from mine. I know you have told me that i have some cool old parts still left on my bus, but how can i tell definitively which front bumper i have?

The distance between the pressing where the license plate would go. They changed when production was moved to Hanover. I believe the longer pressing (shorter license plate area) is barndoor and the shorter pressing (bigger distance in license area is Hanover.

Yeah thats what we were thinking as well :-k
My build date on the bus is april 3rd 1956 just a few weeks after the hanover change....i wonder if i have the older style.

Does anyone have the measurements between pressings of the earlier bumpers?

Doug mine measures 17 Ž½ from rib to rib (inside the license plate area) I'm 99% sure yours is a BD. Anyone have the measurement s of a later bumper? It's hard to tell both styles are so close I thinks it's only an inch or two on each rib. Franz will know he has both styles.

Yeah, its the length of the ribs. Wolfsburg are longer in the center where the license plate would go. Is yours Wolfsburg Doug? That would blur lines for the hanover/wolfsburg change. Pretty sure yours is original to the bus too.

I don't know if I told everyone on the web, that I have the most Bad Ass bus around. This is a problem I don't want to ever stop driving! Took it up to Crested Butte today, handles the elevation nicely! Love this shit!!!!!!!!!Doug did you find out about the bumper?

You need to buy a bigger camera ?
911 operator: What is your emergency ? Me: Some asshole just pulled out in front of me & totaled my car! 911: Are you injured? Me: No. 911: Is the other driver injured ? Me: Not yet....but you should probably send an ambulance.
