Re: New project in the werks for Big Ben

^^^I'll actually be using acetylene gas for the welding. The reason being that it pre-heats the weld area before any actual weld takes place, thus making the weld less brittle. I could TIG, but don't have one handy, and I'd have to pre-heat every weld joint before TIG'ing.

Re: 58DD Panel Bus

I see some home spun JJ style swivel seats in your future Jesse. I'd like to cut out my bulkhead and do some in my bus. But i'm afraid with my wood floors and no center belly pan anymore, I'd twist like a pretzel without it. Wink

Re: Coles 67 Westy THE BBOE!!!!!!!

You guys probably know this, but the reason behind '0' lash steel push rods was they don't expand as much as aluminum. So when all the aluminum and the mag case expand, the steel doesn't, and you have perfect rocker to valve clearance when the engine is warm. With aluminum push rods, you set the cle...

Re: KCW Randomness

This pic popped up on my Photobucket home page. Saved it from an article on "America's Loneliest Highway", highway 50 running through UT, NV, and other states. Anyway, this was taken somewhere around Baker, NV, on the Baker Ranch. Someone should go searching for it. http://i273.photobucket...

My kit. Looks like a bunch of random stuff, but it is all the wood for the wing and steel tube for the fuselage. http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj226/plane_ben/Legal%20Eagle%20XL/IMG_0610_zpsijwaknsh.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj226/plane_ben/Legal%20Eagle%20XL/IMG_0609_zps19mq8z45.j...

Re: KCW Randomness

I had a guy from Wisconsin contact me through the Samba recuse. Wanted to know about a bus here locally, and if I had any knowledge of it. It was a bus I knew the owner of, and assured him the guy was not misrepresenting the bus in any way. He kept in contact and came to visit me before he drove it ...

Re: V8 mid engine 4wd bay

^^^ You said it Franz! This bus can never change hands again. It's going to require so much intimate knowledge if it ever needs a repair, a new owner would be pulling his hair out. Wink I really like it though, reminds me of my dad and some of his constructs. Smile

Who would've ever thought the moniker "Naked Stroker" would become famous. Smile Definitely a good road tripp'in motor.

That engine has special cylinder spacers made from an old VW generator case. =D> .160" if I recall correctly. Stayed up all night cutting them.
