Re: Zach's Garage

Hey Ben, those are very similar but not the same. 27" is an old size that isn't used anymore. The bike I just built had 27's originally but I converted it to 700c (100x more options for tires available). When looking for tires for your 27" wheels make sure they have an ISO of 630mm. 700c u...

Re: Zach's Garage

Time to let this go. Very rare bike. Of course anyone here gets a better deal.

Today I was thinking I could use one of those Triple J hoodies. JB, you got any??

Re: Lowlight jigsaw puzzle

Maybe with some Speedwell manifolds and Webber 40's to make the Triple J logo a reality? Smile Wink :-# adjae8.jpg Not to be overly nerdy but those are actually Weber 36's and the guy is having a hell of a time getting them tuned in (some are saying the little 36's are still too big for his combo)....

Re: 54 Camping Box

So cool to see metal work nearly finished on this one. So is the build plan 100% stock or is it going to have some drivability upgrades like the other two? The plan is drivability upgrades in the bus. We'll also build a correct stock engine etc. that can look pretty sitting on a stand in the garage...

I would like to score some nice straight chrome rims. I'll have to check on the size. 27x?. Not sure.

Depends on the year of the bike. Could be a couple different sizes.

Re: Zach's Garage

Thanks! I'm really stoked how it turned out. The levers and calipers are old Dia-Compes that were on my Voyageur (turned fixed gear) originally. They came drilled from the factory.

I'd love to Ben, but I think distance kills that deal ](*,) Let me know if you need any parts or advise.

Re: Zach's Garage

Anyone remember this junk I bought from Goodwill last July? IMG_3564.JPG It all came together in my head a few weeks ago so I finally tore into it. Only thing I saved from the original bike was the frameset, which is beautiful, lightweight lugged chromoly. The rest was heavy fucking steel garbage. I...

You will definitely have to machine the drums when using type 3 brakes on a short spline axle.

Right on. I believe that you need to take .625" off the snout of the drum.

Re: "Scarface" 54 BD panel build

If it has the "hybrid" axle tubes (short end casting, extended tube, long axles) it won't work on a barndoor. Barndoor torsion housings are the same width as a Beetle, later busses are about 3" wider. Use standard tubes with either short or long end castings.
