On my first road trip with the KCW crew. We went to Busses at the Brewery in Colorado Springs. I reamed out the spilnes on the driversside hub. A friend of JJ’s (Mark) had another hub that he put on my car. It had lug studs on it that ended up catching on a part of my parking brake when I pulled it while still moving. Anyhow, I ended up with no brakes at all. We made another quick roadside repair then headed on. JJ said if I had another problem and the brakes went out that I could just run into the back of his bus to stop. Nice guy to offer up the back of his bus to help stop my car. He was driving Grandfather at the time.NotchyoursParticipantApril 30, 2018 at 8:51 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantApril 26, 2018 at 8:38 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantMarch 24, 2018 at 9:24 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantMarch 24, 2018 at 9:17 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantMarch 18, 2018 at 8:16 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantMarch 14, 2018 at 6:23 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantMarch 10, 2018 at 7:51 amPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantMarch 2, 2018 at 10:01 amPost count: 36
Thanks for all your efforts guys. Some people keep VW’s in their garages. This bus has been a driver since 2010. Five times to BBB, a couple laps around Colorado, Jerome Jamboree , a few trips to Salt Lake, offroading in Moab, Shasta and countless camping trips. Almost time for another set of tires.NotchyoursParticipantMarch 1, 2018 at 6:09 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantFebruary 28, 2018 at 6:25 amPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantFebruary 22, 2018 at 6:54 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantFebruary 21, 2018 at 9:10 pmPost count: 36NotchyoursParticipantFebruary 14, 2018 at 6:29 pmPost count: 36
Dan’s bus in for a rear axle leak. A quick shake of the wheel looks like the wheel bearings are toast. I need to order a set of RGB bearings before we can rip that apart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLzgkgX51YY
Guess that’s as long as a rebuilt transaxle last when they use Chinese bearings. Or perhaps small nut RGB’s were not designed to go 75 mph.
