I’ll update this thread too while I’m at it. Weston and Malia have been using the DC as a “flower cab” at events. People love it! It’s been running great! Funny that their first event was outside of an old VW dealer building here in Provo, UT.
Those white bumpers look way better! Also, check out those NOS hoops and OG hubcaps I posted a while back. We also got bows and canvas from an awesome dude out of Poland (Jack-Fatboy on samba). I would HIGHLY recommend his stuff. We met him while at Ben Pon and he was a very genuine dude and makes an aweosme product. He showed/told me all the details on his canvas to make it super correct. Pretty cool stuff. He also brought a very special polish beer for KB! Hahaha
all in all this DC is amazing! I love volkswagens!ColeBParticipantJune 22, 2018 at 9:48 amPost count: 477
I guess it’s about time to give my bus some love. About to pull the motor to redo the main seal (anything else I should do while I have the motor out?). I’m going to try and put the truck mirrors on and finish up some electrical work (I’m terrible with electrical stuff. Just never really done it. I have to blinkers or running taillights. but there are some wires not plugged into anything back by my speedo, so I’m going to pull that out and check the diagram to make sure everything is in order) by the time I leave for Africa. So then I can focus on the interior when I get back. Have it ready for awesome Fall camping and climbing.ColeBParticipantJune 22, 2018 at 9:40 amPost count: 477ColeBParticipantJune 21, 2018 at 1:25 pmPost count: 477
I checked in on the twins today. Man are these buses awesome! They both started right up. They are both being used in a wedding next week. Is Noble ever on here? These things need interiors. I want to camp in them. They deserve to be camped in. Haha do it for the busesColeBParticipantJune 20, 2018 at 2:58 pmPost count: 477ColeBParticipantJune 18, 2018 at 11:25 amPost count: 477

I think pat k was on a beer run… haha starting wash! So fresh and so clean!big step up on mikes hill that you don’t have any room to get a run at. It’s right around a switchback. Took Peet and I a couple tries to get it. Peet was out of the car at this point, showing me lines and whispering sweet nothings to me through the handheld radio hahaBAAAAJJJJJAAAAA! So awesomeColeBParticipantJune 17, 2018 at 10:14 pmPost count: 477
The one franz posted that is for sale has a weird history. I talked to the German dude who restored it while I was at Ben Pon. He found it in Italy and it had been in a really bad crash in the early 60’s so they cut the whole front clip and roof off and replaced it with a early 60’s nose and 23 window roof. So it looked like an early 60’s 23 window bus. But he got it and figured out what it was and replaced all that again to put it back to the 15 window.
On a a side note. How can you tell if an early BD was white roof? Early birth cirts were super vague. So I guess you just need to know the history of the bus to know if it really started that way?ColeBParticipantJune 17, 2018 at 3:45 pmPost count: 477ColeBParticipantJune 15, 2018 at 9:02 amPost count: 477
