Pat bought a $500 unknown origin”rebuilt” engine from a guy who walked through the front door.
He decided it would be best to take it apart for cleaning/reassembly/new seals. It looked like it maybe ran once for about a minute…all the parts where new, and had nice machine work.
…But, whoever assembled the case forgot to install a couple main bearing to case dowel pins 😯 Probably would have blown-up pretty quickly. Good call on disassembly peet!
Assembly happening today. Good old fashion empi parts because we have an account and can have parts in 3 days. Don’t let people convince you that everything empi is junk.RustabusParticipantDecember 24, 2017 at 3:12 pmPost count: 681
Glad it ended up in the right hands!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 Spring is gonna be FUN!!!!!!!!PeetParticipantDecember 24, 2017 at 4:55 pmPost count: 116
I was being hopeful thinking I could just take apart my engine and reassemble without any issue since its “A brand new rebuild by a guy who knew what he was doing” 🙄 Well it turns out my case has been line bored and it didn’t have the right bearings. We have a pallet going Painters next week so I’m going send all my parts so I can have a Painters engine tooFranzKeymasterFebruary 3, 2018 at 10:45 amPost count: 1232
Peet got some 4″ and 6″ empi wheels. Rear tires are 30″ x 10.5″ efx motohammer for UTV….but they only measure 28″ Maybe they balloon out to make the difference once mounted and aired? Right now they look too wide and short.FranzKeymasterFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:30 pmPost count: 1232
Mickey Thompson 7 x 30 baja pro tires look sweet. Pat has decided to scrap this tire combo and go with BFG mud terrains in 30 x 9 and 215/7566beaterParticipantFebruary 5, 2018 at 11:28 pmPost count: 58
Dope! Those rims look nice. And can’t go wrong with BFGs off road tires

Looks like Spring is coming early this year!!! Go Peet Go!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 Think John and I both need to spend some time on our off-roaders before we’re ready to hit some Colorado 4×4 trails!!! Gotta line up a KCW Buggy Spa weekend to get em dialed in!!! 😀 😀 😀FranzKeymasterFebruary 9, 2018 at 9:17 amPost count: 1232
I was thinking RCW baja & buggy spa weekend. 😉
Pat and I have been talking about starting a baja & buggy club. With some kind of cool name and badass retro silk jackets with our names on them and stuff.
Peet got his new mud terrains mounted 215/75 and 30″ x 9″ combo. White letters out for old school look.
