Drove a couple of miles to get fuel and found out the diesel nozzle doesn’t fit in the gas filler.

Just had my first drive in the Ultimate Vanagon…   I should have said first RIDE…  😎

Impressive power…..  She has a BUNCH of low end torque!!!!!!   It runs smooth, clean, after initial start up for the day, it fires on first crack of the key..  The power steering and such works, it shifts and seems to drive nice….    It reminds me of a SEMI truck soooo much… or a cummins.. kinda funny to hear that sound out of a VW… 😎

Only thing I can tell the VAN needs.. is the front to come up!!!!  Fox coil overs??? the longer arms out back helped lift the rear.. but the front isn’t matching it..  Unless they make a taller spring by chance?  anyway….    I’m sure the AC needs charged, and some items buttoned up.. but it seems to br a driver again… 😎  Whats next Cole??  Or Kevin??  are there more improvements we need to add before we start buttoning this up?

All I can think of right now is:

    • fix rear hatch
    • decide on what we replace that spare tire carrier with
    • skid plates
    • auxilary diesel tank
    • cut wheel wells
    • new solar(probably fit it in the luggage rack on the roof)
    • iPad for the dash

Ill ask KB his plans though and we can chat about it this weekend.

I have been looking into the vancafe switchback rack system. Seems super cool and modular.EE98D768-7C8D-49D4-B7CF-0EBD1D336BE557F70CF1-41FF-439C-BEF0-E2126DA22B3471E4165C-22FD-434D-A82C-6204CB3CF90FB280160F-97FC-4EF7-ACD2-FC6FB8D2CA30

For sure. Just one spare most of the time. Our trash bag and maybe some Jerry cans when doing long distance

Just emailed Greg. Pike’s peak race is this week. I asked him if we could be priority #2 when he is done racing.

I haven’t seen or heard a word about Greg… I think we are still missing an ECU???  so close.. yet so far away….

I wonder what the deal is? As soon as we got it running he tells us he needs to modify the ecu to keep it from having a melt down. That was a few months ago..

The ecu came back today. I plugged it in charged the battery and it fired right up. It’s twice as hot as half of hell outside today. I’ll get it in the shop next week. I think the plan is vacuum system for the lockers, Fox coilovers and shocks, 2nd fuel tank, solar panels and skid plates. Now that Baja is checked off the list I’m really excited to get this wrapped up. It’s going to be ULTIMATE
