Found that shifter. No Hurst though..
Cool mech, Its kind of like one of those bug-tech shifters.FranzKeymasterAugust 6, 2018 at 9:48 amPost count: 1302
Still need to find that convertible dome light too. I did find the wooden base in your parts…but not the light assembly.unkParticipantAugust 6, 2018 at 10:19 amPost count: 188
Anyone out in KCW land have the following they want to sell?
1. 1956 vert dome light (Franz, also do you have the vert dome light switch that does down on the vert mechanical arm?)
2. Hurst shifter (with the bent shaft)
Samba is slim pickings right now. Franz, I will source these and send them to you somehow.FranzKeymasterAugust 6, 2018 at 11:03 amPost count: 1302
We have the dome light switch.
Not digging the superior shifter? I know I had a hurst or two….I think Johnny took them.unkParticipantAugust 6, 2018 at 11:44 amPost count: 188
Shifter is cool but I want a bit of Nostalgia from when I was a kid. ya know?John JonesKeymasterAugust 6, 2018 at 12:29 pmPost count: 2698
I also resourced your correct and original headlight switch… 😎John JonesKeymasterAugust 6, 2018 at 2:25 pmPost count: 2698
Franz is on the assembly… solving problems as he goes… Detail stuff.. Functional stuff that most overlook.. Not these guys! 😎FranzKeymasterAugust 8, 2018 at 9:53 amPost count: 1302
Getting into the electrical started by polishing switches and mounting fuse blocks. You had a spade terminal ignition switch…luckily Gabvwkey had a rebuilt original with keys.
I dug out a big M radio to send out for conversion.John JonesKeymasterAugust 8, 2018 at 11:04 amPost count: 2698
progress daily… 😎 I can’t wait to road trip to Wisconsin and hang with the Unk’s!!!! I wanna go to YOUR roosters while we are there!!!!! 😎unkParticipantAugust 8, 2018 at 11:16 amPost count: 188
Looking awesome. Thanks, guys. Can you help me out? I am trying to understand the plan for the RHD speedo tube. Was that ever fabbed into the car? I don’t remember seeing it…but I am sure you guys have a good plan to preserve the OG looking strategy of the RHD conversion. Just curious.
And John…we have a few “Rooster’s” spots around town. we will show you around….John JonesKeymasterAugust 8, 2018 at 11:21 amPost count: 2698
I’m betting it bolted down in the same spot on the left hand side, and ran over the right side of the trunk very near the speedo and probably tacked to the upright support that bolts in to the column bolts???? sounds simple enough… 😎 I bet Franz uses a regular oval speedo cable tube and extends it with some new tube ??? I’ll paint it.. ??? simple dimple?FranzKeymasterAugust 8, 2018 at 11:27 amPost count: 1302
This RHD stuff is all a pain in the ass. Having to extend shorten and change a bunch of wires. You couldn’t have picked a harder car to build.
You must be planning to go skiing at Unke’s cabin? 🙂
