I like it cuz it’s cheap, that why I do it.
subi condoms…. now there’s a new product!
Yeah! Keep the cucumber seeds out of the vagina!!!!
Honestly the biggest appeal of the subi swap is budget. My old 1600 DP just wasnt cutting it on my daily commute to have enough power to navigate mountain passes and Bay Area traffic in a practical manner. Something in the 2 liter variety is perfect for my needs. A subi fits my budget as a properly built aircooled would be too much right now. If i had to do a 2276, id probably have to move my bus to project status and get a beater while i save for the swap. and i got my bus to drive and enjoy not stare at in the garage. More time in my bus is always a win for me.
I totally get the appeal of aircooled, maintaining the heritage and original feel as well as supporting the people and businesses that keep those motors going, but money is the factor for me and if a subi keeps my bus as my daily then thats route im headed.
The reliability and time spent maintaining an original motor is a secondary factor for me. I like wrenching. Havent daily driven anything newer that ‘72 for the 15 years now (unless it breaks down and i need to borrow a car haha). Even after doing 12 hour shifts 3-4 days a week repairing cars, i still get excited to get my hands dirty doing stuff on my bus. Lately though i’ve been wanting to do just fun stuff and not so much the “keep it on the road so i make it to work tomorrow” stuff lol
I dunno; just some thoughts i went through that might be helpful to anyone debating in doing a swap.
I get why you do it boys…. and to each his own.. But it is unlikely you will talk me out of kicking ANDY in the balls about it every single chance I get!!!!!! 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Trying to provide a voice of reason in these dark times. 😎
I don’t want everyone to jump on the subaru bandwagon.
….keeps it cheaper for you guys that way. haha
Bring it JJ !!! ????? I can hear the shot you guys are gonna give me next time I make it to KCW!!! Gonna be some laughs for sure!!!

Sorry I haven’t been over to check on ya in a bit.
Didn’t realize the subi/wagen driver required so much maintenance.
Ya ok?
Don’t pay no attention to us mean a/c drivers. Just go vape and relax bro.
Ill check in here more often snowflake. ?
We will build it if it comes.

Hahahaha im beginning to see what you all do on those KCW trips he talks about
im glad we can even talk about subi swaps here unlike that other forum…
Ever since I put the Subi motor in the bus, I find it hilarious how many times I pull up behind a Subaru. Well today, filling up, I turn to see a VW Jetta, and a Subaru Impreza filling up behind me. ?
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
Now your pushing it. These contraptions hurt my soul and now we’re getting pics of late model modern crap?????

^^ I get it it Ben. I was in grumpy mode at that moment….Whats new in the wet and wild world of subis? Been “doing something” Andy?
We will build it if it comes.
I’ve been helping out a friend here with a swap. Andy was going to be here this weekend for Bug-O-Rama, but got detained by an almond butter factory, and won’t make it. We were both bummed out cause we need his Subi smarts. 🙁
