Hmmm tom’s car is an idea. Maybe not. Save it for my 52. Empi Dellortos are good. I have installed some. I could dress them up in alodine or something?

I don’t doubt that the EMPI’s are great functioning carbs, but I’ve sourced other NOS stuff for this build so I’m not sure I should punt and go with new repop on the carbs.  Quick searches for 36 DRLA’s….let me know if anything looks attractive, or I can keep looking:

Dan has some 36’s on the ‘Naked Stroker”.  Already has the smallest venturis too. Maybe you could persuade a trade for some new repop 40’s.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

Thanks Ben….yeah, I’m down for buying/ trading for a set of 36 DRLA’s if anyone has some in decent shape they’d like to part with.

    I don’t think Weber ever had 36’s?????

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

I dunno.  Apparently they came on some Alfa Romeos?

I’d really prefer 36 Dellortos I think but wondering if anyone has experience with the above?

Those carbs look weird. Where is the idle jet?

I do like Webers better than Dellortos. We could choke down some 40 idf pretty easy.

I have an opportunity to buy some some rebuilt 36 Dells (they have new Vintage Speed Knecht style filters with them as a bonus), just waiting on a price.  If it falls through we can go the choked-down 40 IDF route.  I’m sure those would work; it’s what Shin runs on his 1397.

On the oil cooler…can we just go with a new one from WW?

Sounds good. The aluminum Porsche cooler probably works better is all I was thinking.

I have 40hp fan and generator pulley that I was thinking of using too. They have more fins and a larger pulley to slow the fan down = no whistle.

Oh…Gotcha.  I thought we were going that route on the cooler because “Porsche.”  I’ll order that one you linked to now….forget the WW cooler.

Fan mod sounds good to me!

EDIT – I have some rebuilt 36 Dells on the way.  Should ship tomorrow or Thursday.

Entered the Ghia in the http://www.carsonkiawah.com show on Saturday.  Over 280 cars of all makes.  Venue was spectacular, Ocean Park at Kiawah Island.

Dennis Gage of “My Classic Car” took an interest in the Ghia and interviewed me on camera about it.  If it doesn’t end up on the cutting room floor it would air 1st quarter of 2019 on Velocity.
