I posted up a bit on the old forums as 1967Kombi. I’ve just had my Patina Volkswagens book agreed by a publisher, which will be published February 2019. It’s been a dream of mine to put this book together and the idea is four years in the making. I’ve been trying to find JJ’s contact info on the new site, as I could do with sending him an email – KCW were a major part of patina cars being as popular as they are and I would really like to get some early pics in the book of the Pumpkin and some of the other KCW builds.

I’m also casting the net far and wide – looking for high-quality pictures of quality patina cars – stock or lowered.

If you want to get your car in the book, please email me at barefootdriver@outlook.com

Please note: pictures needed will be 300dpi high quality – camera phone pics are not suitable.

I’ll be happy to take guidance from you guys about cars you think need to be in the book..

Sweet I hope we can help. JJ’s email is kustomcoachwerks@aol.com The old galleries are intact under media in the top right corner.

Very cool. I love that it will be published that KCW was a major player in making patina cars an acceptable part of this hobby.

I will be emailing you some high res pics of my 64 Notch.

    patina = lazy    Haha

Is how I feel after doing a bare metal resto. It is so much work to paint a car.

I definitely have a new appreciation for well-worn paint and originality.

Seems like the badd ass pic Melissa Muhr took of my Deluxe should be in there….. 😎  It’s hanging in my house… 😎

I kinda hate to mention HoodRide… but… I think HoodRide and Derrick Pacheco had a hand in that movement too…. 😎 it is part of the story.. and probably should be in the story…. 😎

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

Awesome that you guys are on board. I did manage to get hold of Derrick – I know things surrounding Hoodride weren’t always positive, but being an active user of both the KCW and Hoodride forums at the time, it was a really cool and exciting part of history to witness.. I know time is a great healer for most people – I’m not out to call anyone out or put anyone in a bad light, I’d just like to tell the story of all the cool shit that happened.

I’d love to print as many pics of cars from the old days as I can get hold of.. I remember having a cool pic on my desktop back then of Franz’s blue bug on 5 spokes – I believe it might have been a 59 on a later pan with no rear window? The problem with old pics and internet pics are low resolution and permission to use, so if any of you guys have high res pics from back then, you’ll fill a huge gap in the picture inventory for the book.

It’s been a pleasure to be a member of this site and witness it all unfold.

My wounds are healed and gone and you can’t even tell they were there…. 😎  I would really enjoy getting Derrick, Rusty, Franz, Dizzle, and myself together again… a then and now….  I hope the guy is doing well.  Thats like 15 years or so ago….

Dizzle’s car HAS to make the book… (part of that car is still here)  Franz has the back window from it…   😎 the one with franz’s arm hanging out the door at 5th and noland… 😎  Probably my old split… dragging the paint off the fenders…. 😎   Remember Dizzle’s car that the TIRE rubbed through the METAL….. 😎

Dizzle’s car was the one that inspired me all those years ago to work with the fucked up old ’64 that I had and just slam it on Randars. Would be great to get pics of it in the book… It would be awesome to assemble the old crowd and go to Roosters…

Seems to me we should fly this guy over here to KCW for a weekend.. We should make sure Rusty can attend that weekend also…. 😎  He should probably ride to Rosters in Franz’s slammed patina ride he still drives to this day!!!!! 😎  or maybe’s Rusty’s single cab… it has been apart of and around for the whole patina movement!!!  Hell… Most of Rusty’s shit has…..

KCW will sponsor a plane ticket if you want to come get the full experience. 😎

Josh Wheeler and the Shitty Splitty was THEE OG.  I remember him cruising in before Hoodride was a thing (if I remember correctly)
