Heh, that reply seems a bit out of place without your photo above it!!!! 😛 😛
Love it!!! Look at that smile! ???
My new desktop background at work…so epic…it still hasn’t completely set in.
THERE’s that picture…. 😀 😀 😀  LOVE IT!  For some odd reason… I like seeing pictures of VW’s together that we have built.. that probably won’t cross path’s again.. like these two… 😉  Like maybe they have their own conversation about how “life” has been.

Its funny you say that John, Jillian and I always say…”if only this little car could talk, the stories it could tell”
well another thursday….more paper work, logs, payroll and do a little work after I do all that….  I don’t have anything awesome to share.. I don’t know any gossip… I don’t have anything to complain about and I don’t like complainers anyway. 😉  No real plans this weekend.. but playing with some wood on my deck.. 😉  Corporate is gonna go see our kiddo’s this weekend.. So I will be extra bored without her around… 😉 😉 😉
It’s been refreshing having Cole around this week…Â I hope he has enjoyed it also…
speaking of the wood…  I doubt I am gonna be able to buy teak or ipe at home depot right? I might have to call around for something like that… 💡  I want to do slats… close together.. like a paint stick apart.. was thinking 1×4’s maybe? 1×2’s would look good… lots of peice’s… I bet I have like 14′ of rack length… probably be two pieces front to back I am guessing…

Good morning everyone ???john what is the spacing of the crossbar’s on your rack ? I would go to home depo and get redwood or Douglas fir 2×12 cut the thickness you want on a table saw . Or drive up here this weekend and we can cut them in the wood shop

I think they are like 8″ apart… I can step on two of em at at time without my boot falling through. If I were closer… I would have already asked you to help me… 😉 😉  I can’t plane wood…. I don’t have a planer or very good wood tools… I might have to ask Hodges to help me… Or make a trip to Kevin’s.. 😉

John I can help u with your rack this weekend if u wanna hand. I can bring my tools down and fix u up. Need to figure out the screws to attach the wood to the metal runners or u make wood runners to fit over the crossbars.
self tappers into the tube was my idea.

oh shit ! That rack is so badass !
I’m gonna love it.. I’ll be able to keep everything on the roof… Keep the inside of my bus cleaned out and ready to use all the time… Being able to walk around up there is gonna be nice…. Lawn chairs on the roof!!!!!!! You could throw a sleeping bag up there too!

That rack would be at home on the Super Highroof!
What about recycled pallet wood for the rack slats – thinking cheap.

I think pallet wood would be to short, which = lot’s of extra work. Red wood, ripped and planed into 1 x 2’s would be the ticket IMO.
Might be doing this myself. I was just thinking 1/2″ plywood with anti skid paint. Maybe 3/4″. Don’t know what the weight different would be. I know my house roof is only 1/2″ with wider spacing, and I walk on it all the time.
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
That rack would be perfect for viewing a race from the infield of a dirt track or side of a drag strip also! It is always cleaner sitting in the infield of a dirt track ! Well, clean as you can stay at a dirt track!
The wood flooring recycled out of an dry box 45-53′ trailer is nice also. It looks like butcher block and will have predrilled screw holes about every foot. It is a pain to save it out of the trailer but it looks great after it is refinished or left patina.
