That bottom link looks like some guys doing it!!!!! Looks like they broke their car in half at the mint 400.. 🙄 🙄 🙄 I get the impression… we are taking a knife to a gun fight.. 🙄 🙄 🙄 these little 50 year old cars aren’t supposed to finish… 😳John JonesKeymasterDecember 21, 2017 at 8:37 amPost count: 1548

Franz has been carrying these rules around with him…. 😉FranzKeymasterDecember 21, 2017 at 9:41 amPost count: 564
Many rules. I’m enjoying learning new stuff about cars/racing.
We’re going to have the best car. I’m very happy with the car we bought. Its professionally constructed cage, modifications, and parts list were a good start. Pat and I have been thinking about spares and the in-car kit. We have to be very weight conscious.
I talked to an old-timer friend of ours about class 11 engines. Hes the trickiest guy I know and a ex- scocre tech inspector. I think we came up with an engine program. The current class 11 rules allow a single weber IDF/26mm venturis with compression ratio no more than 8 :1. That is probably better than high compression w/stock carb.FranzKeymasterDecember 22, 2017 at 10:58 amPost count: 564
I am curious about cutting holes in various spots to lighten the car. Like the center tunnel. Its like 1/8″ thick. I could probably cut 20 3″ holes to remove 15+ lbs. It would also allow easier access to the clutch cable for quick change.
We have the car stripped down. Next on the list is metal work. We need to fix all of the fender mounts, make the rear apron removable, and weld various mounting tabs.
-Inside of doors need mounts/straps for emergency stuff and tools (thanks for the link to those quick clamps patk)
-mattrax mounts and entire spare kit/bags mounts behind seats.
-co-driver oh shit handle
-navigation and communication interface mounting
-window net positive mounting
-tabs for quick release night driving lights
-new fenders with wire/rolled lips.
-fuel cell. I think we should keep it front mounted. I saw the Denver guys originally had a 15 gallon tank, and decided to go up to 20 gal. It also needs to have a quick fill/vent system. Maybe keep the front tank small enough to allow the spare tire to mount on top? Or 2nd “reserve tank” 3-4 gallon mounted somewhere else. Maybe better for different track situations.
-battery mount. We need to find some badass light weight racing battery and mount it in an enclosed box.olaf_scParticipantDecember 23, 2017 at 5:16 pmPost count: 4VwfoolParticipantDecember 24, 2017 at 1:34 amPost count: 98
I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with, creativity within the rules.FranzKeymasterDecember 24, 2017 at 9:40 amPost count: 564
I hear the san felipe 250 is gnarly track. If we can finish that race, then we’ll be good for the 500 and 1000.PeetParticipantDecember 24, 2017 at 5:01 pmPost count: 31

Here are my Christmas gifts this year. I think you can tell what is on my families mind…. ha! I especially like the title of the movie. Seems appropriate. I’ll have to bring the movie and book out! Maybe we can learn something. So excited!John JonesKeymasterDecember 27, 2017 at 8:01 amPost count: 1548
😀 😀 😀
My only fear on this…. is that it really isn’t a current project…. yet, it probably needs to be done before anything I am working on.. Like.. maybe this needs to be kicked up to the top of the list???? 💡 💡 💡 💡 That turnkey car we bought… is a BIG OL project now.. 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉
