The higrade kombi went back into the dirty shop and out came the flip jig? Lots of grinding and welding over next couple shifts? but so close to the end of metalwork I can taste it! Going to try some raptor bedliner tinted commercial grey for the belly….talked to the paint shop today about it. Assembly is going to be fun FUCK YA!John JonesKeymasterApril 16, 2018 at 6:15 pmPost count: 2704
awesome Josh!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!! 😎JbParticipantApril 16, 2018 at 10:18 pmPost count: 302
Ya bro! All I can think about is buses! 24/7? I have this badass broke street car to fix, a 55 vert that needs to get finished….all kicked to the gutter for early buses?
My best bud of 25 plus years just pulled the trigger on this super rad PGSG to pop his cherry into the aircooled world! Mice got into the headliner and went to town so it needs some serious roof/gutter love on one side but down low it’s so fucking dry!!!! Our little island is fast becoming western Canada’s Mecca for badass pressbumper buses???barefootdriverParticipantApril 17, 2018 at 3:08 amPost count: 113
I think I saw that advertised – looks good for the money. Can’t wait to see the progressJbParticipantMay 5, 2018 at 10:48 amPost count: 302
Original drivers door had some lead work in the bottom…as with anything that got torched back in day the backside of panel left burnt and unprotected….rust God’s got to it. I only ordered a gerson inner for some reason it we whipped up an outer after some careful measuring and tracing using originalgangsta German metric steel of course? rolled it in the English wheel for a min and got right compound before lighting up welder . Came out pretty decent, I was a little worried about folding the pinch seam and making look right but was the easy part.
Pedal shafts were real worn and filled with craters and bushings paper thin of course. I busted clutch arm apart and turned that and the brake pin down to nice metal then made bronze oversized bushings….gave em about .005” clearance, gonna be nice and smooth!
Steering column cover was toast, yeah I probably could have bought one off samba for 100 but in 45 mins I had one made from scraps of old floor ?
For some reason the bumper slots in this funky green front lower valence were way off? It was given to me and prob 10 plus years old? Early funkyness? cut out and fabbed up new ones to melt in
Test fit with early WB press bumper
Killer updated throttle linkage….all my controls are gonna be smooth as budda!
man-o-man this new site is dialed in for uploading pics! Sofuckineasy! ?more of u mofos should try it?
lots of detail work going into cab floor (was an og 57 floor and me being me had to change pedal felt holders and a few other menial details to be correct for 56??) rest of belly is dialed too, all welds dressed down ….I figure one more shift and will have ready for a seam seal party? Can’t really believe I’m at this point on this build! Really looking forward to assembly!!PeteParticipantMay 5, 2018 at 1:54 pmPost count: 382

Lots of subaroos u say Andy? High lesbian population I suppose then??
We had a wicked productive night!! Yanked the motor in scarface for a head retorque but it had to sit to cool. Got the scab on the hoist and mounted rear bumper and splash pans for first time. (Old vintage speed hotdog stopped before) Ebrake cables, never had those either…had to custom make for empi rear disks has on it. Boys handled that and I re mounted the original Canadian script badge. Oh got oil leak fixed too.
