She picked it up from Moab the weekend after the campout. She brought it out here to get some motor help. Compression test shows 3 of the cylinders at 90 and the 3rd cylinder at 0…. hopefully new heads and piston kit etc show up tomorrow. Lots of red mud everywhere! Really clean bus, frame a bit smashed in one spot from a rock by the looks of it and one, less than dime sized rust hole in the floor at the drivers feet.  Been sitting for at least 11 Years. Been fun so far cleaning it up! I just finished tearing the motor down a bit. Power wash tomorrow and then tear in even more.

I was trying to make a deal on this bus too. Guess I didn’t have the right charms. 😎

Congratulations Emilee, that is a nice bus.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

Emilee worked hard yesterday and got her motor and tin (so much tin on a type 4 motor holy shit!) all cleaned up. Then we tore that sucker all the way down! Her piston and cylinder kit and dual carbs showed up yesterday. Hopefully the heads show up today and we can put this motor back together. Looked inside the motor and everything looks pretty good. Camshaft lobes look all rounded and not much free play at all. But you can see in that photo Of the valves that the left intake valve, which was her third cylinder has sunk pretty bad. That’s what was causing the backfiring out the intake when we were trying to get it started when she got it. Since we are waiting for those heads we also went through her brakes and replaced an ebrake cable. Come on heads! Get here ????

Here are some photos of her interior and the cleaning process. The drivers side slider window had been smashed while it was sitting at the Ottingers. We replaced that with a jealouse window. We vacuumed everything out and I filled a little hole of rust under the drivers feet. She wants to re cover the seats and rear cushions. Derek Rutledge from Utah has been very kind and let her keep the bus at his house since he has a nice garage with tools and some heat. He also gave her a westy jump seat to fill some space where there is a cabinet missing. Thanks Derek! She wants to build another cabinet with storage and maybe a stove. She already made a new flip up table as well! I think she is going to make new curtains over the next couple weeks before we go back to KCW to finish her engine.

Her heads never showed up this week. Ended up being ok because she also needs new motor mounts and a clutch kit! It will all come in this week and then we can bust it out soon.
