Wish me luck!!!! I’m having a mystery DP motor I got a while ago stripped down and shipped to Painters for a rebuild. John said it seems like only 1 in 4 that are sent over are rebuildable! I need Positive Thoughts!!!!!! 🙂
Rusty your awesome. “It’ll be fine.”
We will build it if it comes.
😉 Everything I own is pretty much almost perfect so I’m sure nothing could possibly be wrong with this junkyard motor!!! 😉
Is it a dual relief case?
Did you clean it, look for cracks at the #3 web, oil cooler area, center main? What’s the line bore oversize already? Is the center main pounded? Warped? Thrust beat out?
Might save you a buck on shipping….
You stared a thread to remind me about your core engine? This must be a priority.
My bad, I didn’t think it was. Since we’ve been tripping over it for 3 months.

It would take Rusty a week to write that list. ?

GOOD news. It has a GEX sticker on it. Most likely 100% junk. Why you wasting our time??
I just helped Pat lift it from the floor to his bench so that he could take it apart for you.

😀 😀 😀 HAHA!!!
distributor drive and one cylinder full of water so far.
I don’t know what Franz is being negative about. We’ve sent more questionable junk to Painters before. Long block is ready to go

I like and respect Painters, but I think they reject a lot of blocks that in fact could be rebuilt. I’m just not sure what their parameters might be. I’m sure they don’t want to deal with anything that might be anywhere near borderline but still, where do you draw the line ?

Back in the day when I lived in Denver, Painter’s did the machine work on a block for me that needed a fourth cut. Said I could get a special set of bearing from them. Don’t know if they bother with that extreme anymore. But I put a good 60,000 miles on that engine.
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
Yeah Grumpy Pants!!!!! Remember “Positive Thoughts!!!!” 🙂
Peet stripped it down today.
Think we should leave the stickers? Better chance they will rebuild it if they don’t know it was a GEX???
